Go Green, Go Dutch, Go Bike! Cycling Event
- City Staff are invited to participate in an exciting cycling event:
- On February 6, 2010, the Dutch National Railway (NS) will be supplying 400 bicycles for members of the public and volunteers at Holland Heineken House to borrow as part of a major cycling event in Richmond.
- The purpose of this event will be to showcase the National Railway cycling program “OV – fiets” (combining bike riding for Public Transit users) and the Dutch cycling event “Go Green, Go Dutch, Go Bike” which promotes cycling as a mode of transportation throughout the Netherlands and beyond.
- The event will include an 8-kilometre bike ride beginning and ending at the Gateway Theatre parking lot (please see attached map).
The details are as follows:
9:30 - 10:30am Registration and bicycle pick up (bikes to be picked up at Minoru parkade)
10:30am Opening remarks by Mayor Brodie and the Director of Dutch Rail
10:45am Bike ride begins
11:45am - 12:30pm Bike ride ends and wrap up at Gateway Theatre parking lot
City staff and their families are all invited to participate at this event. Please note that all ages are welcome, however only persons 16 and older with valid Provincially issued identification may register to use a Dutch bicycle.
- If you would like to register for a bike and helmet please call the registration call centre at 604-276-4300 beginning Monday, January 18, 2010.
- Those persons under 16 or without proper identification may participate without registering by arriving at Gateway Theatre with a bike and helmet on the event day.
